Welcome! This is an official application for a California Concealed Carry Weapon license. You must completely and accurately fill-out this application to be considered for a Concealed Carry Weapon License. Any falsification of the information within this application is a crime and will result in the denial of the applicant’s Concealed Carry Weapon license request.
For new applicants: A non-refundable application processing fee of $159.00 is required to schedule an interview appointment. These fees will be charged even if your application is denied.
Authority
California Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 provide that a Sheriff of a county or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department of any city, or city and county, may issue a license to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person (Concealed Carry Weapon license).
Who May be Issued a License
The licensing authority specified in Penal Code sections 26150 and 26155 (a Sheriff or the Chief or other head of a municipal police department) may issue a license to persons who are of good moral character, and who have completed a course of training. All applicants for a Concealed Carry Weapon license will be fingerprinted and state and federal records will be checked to determine if they are eligible to possess firearms. Format and Duration of a Concealed Carry Weapon License
A California Concealed Carry Weapon allows a person to carry a pistol, revolver, or other firearm capable of being concealed upon the person. A Standard Concealed Carry Weapon license is valid for 2 years and requires the completion of an annual 8-hour firearms training course prior to renewal.
Prior to Filling Out This Application
- Carefully review the instructions on the Sheriff's Office website.
- Be prepared to scan a copy of your valid California driver’s license, or state issued ID, which has your current address in Monterey County.
- Be prepared to scan copies of two (2) of the following “proof of residency” documents showing your current address in Monterey County (i.e. Utility bill, Lease/Rental Agreement, Telephone Bill, or Tax Bill).
- Be sure that each firearm you are listing on your Concealed Carry Weapon license is registered to you or your spouse/registered domestic partner. The firearm cannot be registered to any other family member. The firearm also cannot be registered as a “single shot.”

Please be advised if you are applying for a MODIFICATION, you will need to upload a copy of your qualification cetificate via the Order Tracker upon completion of the application.
